The annual NatMatSci Bake Off produced some showstopping cakes!

Sugar was the theme on Monday as students donned their aprons to prepare their entries for the NatMatSci Bake Off 👩🏻‍🍳.

An annual House competition, students were invited to bake chocolate chip cookies (technical challenge) or a celebration cake (showstopper challenge) with all entries earning points for their houses.

Our guest judge, Tamarind Lucas, is the proprietor of the Shepherd’s Hut Cafe , a firm favourite amongst Kenilworth locals for afternoon cream teas. Joined by Miss Charlie Turner, they sampled the goods created by our talented students. The chocolate chip cookies made by Said were tasty indeed, but Petch’s bold choice to include nuts paid off and he walked away with the technical prize.

All three cakes were definitely showstoppers. Suri’s panda cake was adorable with a crumb so chocolatey, it could have been a brownie, and Sofia’s chocolate cake was topped with the fluffiest buttercream Miss Turner had sampled. But it was Said’s cake model of the NatMatSci crest that wowed the judges with both its appearance and delicious lemon and blueberry flavour.

Well done to all our competitors!
