NatMatSci is delighted to announce the introduction of A-level Psychology, expanding our aspirational STEM curriculum as part of Project Catalyst.
The new course will give students the opportunity to explore the fascinating science of human behaviour while developing critical thinking, analytical and research skills. The subject also connects naturally with a wide range of academic disciplines and future career pathways, making it a valuable addition to the NatMatSci curriculum.
The introduction of A-level Psychology comes at an exciting time for the college, with two NatMatSci alumni currently studying Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge. Their experiences highlight the opportunities available to students who choose to pursue this area alongside other academic interests.
As one of the most popular A-level subjects in the UK, it is a natural fit for NatMatSci’s broad and ambitious approach to STEM education. The course will encourage students to ask questions about why people think, feel and behave as they do, while engaging with research and evidence.
We’re looking forward to welcoming our first students to the NatMatSci community and seeing them develop their interests in this fascinating and increasingly interdisciplinary field.

Expanding the NatMatSci curriculum through Project Catalyst
The introduction of A-level Psychology is part of Project Catalyst, our programme to create the next major home of The National Mathematics and Science College.
Project Catalyst is about more than creating new facilities. It is an opportunity to develop an environment designed around the needs, ambitions and potential of our students, bringing together specialist teaching, practical science, independent study, collaboration and community spaces in one enhanced College site.
Our ambition is to create a STEM environment where different disciplines connect and where students are encouraged to explore ideas beyond the boundaries of individual subjects. The addition of Psychology reflects this vision, providing another opportunity for students to explore the connections between science, human behaviour, research and the wider world.
As the project develops, new facilities and spaces will provide an even richer environment for students to pursue their academic interests, collaborate with others and develop the curiosity and confidence to take their next steps.
We’re looking forward to welcoming our first students to the NatMatSci community and seeing them develop their interests in this fascinating and increasingly interdisciplinary field.
