NatMatSci’s STEM Education Proves Its Excellence with Silver Medal Victory for Perth at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2024

Congratulations to NatMatSci student Perth and all of Team GB for winning silver medals at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) in Saudi Arabia!

The IChO is an annual competition for the world’s most talented secondary school chemistry students. Nations send a team of four students who are tested on their chemistry knowledge and skills in a five-hour laboratory practical exam and a five-hour written theoretical exam, held on separate days.

We’re incredibly proud of these phenomenal young chemists. A special shoutout to our amazing chemist Perth for competing in the team for the second year! Her fantastic performance is a testament to the exceptional STEM education here at NatMatSci and it’s the 5th year in a row that a NatMatSci student had made the GB Team.

These young chemists are true superstars globally. Their success is a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and passion for chemistry, which drives them to push the boundaries of their knowledge and skills.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Olympiad Working Group and the Royal Society of Chemistry for their unwavering support and mentoring throughout this challenging journey. Their guidance has been instrumental in shaping these young minds and preparing them for this prestigious competition.

Thank you to our amazing Chemistry department led by our Vice Principal Dr Penny Robotham.

Way to go, Team GB! 🎉🇬🇧 🥈 🥈 🥈 🥈
