Our Y2 student Eshanth recently gained valuable work experience at King’s College Hospital, giving him a first-hand look at life in a busy healthcare environment.
During his placement at King’s College Hospital, Eshanth observed a pancreatic surgery, providing a first-hand insight into the complexity of surgical procedures and the different healthcare professionals involved in a patient’s care.
He also joined ward rounds, seeing how doctors and other members of the clinical team assess patients, discuss their progress and make decisions about their ongoing care.
As well as experiencing the clinical side of medicine, Eshanth was able to see some of the administrative work behind the scenes. This highlighted the range of responsibilities involved in running a hospital and showed him that a career in healthcare extends well beyond the clinical environment.
