🏴☠️🎄 Pirates, Prisoners & Probability 🎄🏴☠️ join Tim Honeywill for a Festive Maths Tale
Tim Honeywill is excited to share with you an incredible story (probably not true!) of how 100 prisoners used mathematics to massively improve their chance of survival at the hands of some nasty pirates. This is not your typical festive tale, so baubles and Christmas hats a-plenty will be thrown into the mix for good measure.
Although Tim will introduce material and techniques taught in A Level Mathematics, no prior knowledge of A Level Maths is expected, and ho-ho-hopefully it will be a fun story to be enjoyed no matter how deep into the mathematics you go.
Aimed at: anyone interested, especially those who are looking forward to studying A Level Mathematics in the near future (or who already are).
🔔 Spoiler Alert : No prisoners were harmed in the making of this talk!
Our NatMatSci mathematicians have a strong tradition of success at the Maths Olympiads with 42 Golds last year and this year we are proud to announce that three of our students have been accepted to study Mathematics at Oxford University, and another three at Cambridge University.
Ho-ho-hope to see you there! 🎅✨
