NatMatSci Celebrates Exceptional A Level Results as Student Becomes One of Just 25 in the UK to Achieve Five A*s

NatMatSci is celebrating another exceptional set of A Level results, as student becomes one of just 25 students in the UK to achieve five or more A* grades.

The National Mathematics and Science College (NatMatSci) is celebrating another outstanding set of A Level results, including an exceptional achievement by Elvis, who has become one of only 25 students in the UK to achieve five or more A* grades.

Elvis achieved a phenomenal academic achievement of 5 A* grades across five of the most demanding A Level subjects: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. And will now take up his place studying Natural Sciences at Trinity College, University of Cambridge.

The achievement comes as NatMatSci celebrates another exceptional year of results, with 72% of all results being awarded the top A*–A grades, 44% awarded A* and 43% of students achieving A*A*A or better. The results come as the college’s graduating cohort of 68 students completed 249 A Level examinations, with the majority studying four or more subjects.

As a college specialising exclusively in STEM subjects, NatMatSci continues to achieve exceptional A Level Results in some of the most academically demanding disciplines.

Elvis ALevel Results

Outstanding Oxbridge Success

This year’s A Level results are accompanied by another remarkable year of Oxbridge success, with six students progressing to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge:

The breadth of subjects reflects the diverse interests and strengths of the cohort, with Mathematics proving a particular area of success. An impressive 86% of Mathematics results were awarded A*–A, with 63% achieving an A*.

Exceptional Success in Medicine

NatMatSci students have also achieved outstanding A Level results results in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

Every NatMatSci student who received an offer to study at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Queen Mary University of London, University College London and Liverpool University Veterinary Medicine achieved the grades required to take up their place.

Beyond Oxford and Cambridge, students will also progress to leading UK universities including Imperial College London, University College London, King’s College London, The London School of Economics and Political Science, and the University of Warwick.

National and International STEM Success

The A Level results cap another year of exceptional achievement in STEM competitions, with NatMatSci students performing at the highest levels nationally and internationally.

In Biology, 40% of entrants achieved Gold in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad – eight times the national rate – while students also secured eight Gold awards in the British Biology Olympiad, alongside numerous Gold awards in the Senior Physics Challenge.

Across Chemistry and Physics, students achieved joint first in the world in the Avogadro Chemistry Competition, the top regional score and sixth place globally in PhysicsBowl, and six places in the top 0.5% nationally in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge.

Students also finished fifth nationally in the British Algorithmic Olympiad, placed in the top 30 in the UK in Chemistry, and were invited to the British Physics Olympiad awards at the Royal Society. They also took top honours in the UCLA Global Medical Brigades Science and Medicine Competition.

Alongside their competition and A Level success, NatMatSci students have continued to develop their skills as young researchers, with students publishing original research in the Young Scientist Journal.

Preparing the Next Generation of STEM Leaders

Principal Dr Andy Kemp said:

“Our students are heading off to study at some of the finest universities in the world, and they have earned every one of those places in the most academically demanding subjects there are. That is a true testament to their talent, dedication and focus, and to the expertise of the staff who have taught them. This is also a cohort who have competed and won at the highest level, nationally and internationally, and who leave us genuinely prepared for what comes next. NatMatSci is a place where talented and passionate mathematicians and scientists thrive, and this year’s results reinforce that there is nowhere better to pursue your passion for STEM!”

Looking ahead, NatMatSci is already building on this success. Project Catalyst, the college’s new STEM-dedicated home, is due to open in 2027, alongside the launch of a new two-year STEM-focused GCSE Programme.

Dr Kemp added:

“With Project Catalyst, our new STEM-dedicated home opening in 2027, and the launch of our new two-year STEM-focused GCSE Programme, we are building the next chapter of NatMatSci and creating even more opportunities for talented young people to develop their passion for STEM and achieve their ambitions.”

For this year’s graduating students, their outstanding A Level results now open the door to some of the world’s leading universities. For NatMatSci, their achievements mark another significant milestone in the college’s mission to nurture talented mathematicians and scientists and help them realise their ambitions.

Congratulations to the class of 2026!
