NatMatSci wins first place at the University of Warwick Development Economics event!

It was an exciting summer term for our NatMatSci Economists:

We attended an inspiring half-day workshop by the University of Warwick Centre for Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy (CAGE).

Congratulations to Justin for his Northeastern University scholarship offer, earned through an outstanding essay submission! Ilia secured a spot at the John Lock Institute summer school with his essay on immigration policy and government debt, followed by a rigorous interview with a senior academic.

Huge congratulations to Ilya, Vadym and Eliot for winning first place at the University of Warwick Development Economics event!

“This event gave great insight into the importance of history in economics. It showed that to understand a nation’s economic situation, it’s important to look not only at the current government policies, but also at the historical context. In teams of five, with Warwick Economics students to support us, we analysed the Indian economy and how its historical background affected it. We also investigated poverty across Africa and the specific impacts of colonialism. The event also gave us an opportunity to question Warwick professors on topics such as government debt and climate change. It was a wonderful experience to be among people fascinated by the same subject and meet professionals in the field.”
