ISI Highlights NatMatSci’s Culture of Academic Excellence and Collaboration

We are thrilled to announce that we have received a fantastic report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), following their visit from February 27 to 29, 2024.

“The curriculum surpasses A-level specifications, encouraging pupils to apply their knowledge to real-world problems, ISI praised. Additionally, they noted, “Leaders create a culture of academic excellence within a supportive and collaborative community.”

Highlights from the Inspection Report:

  • Academic Excellence: 
  • Our highly qualified teaching staff and effective leadership create a supportive and academically challenging environment. Pupils continue to achieve exceptional outcomes in external examinations, reflecting our high expectations. “Leaders have high expectations for pupils, and the quantity and quality of pupils’ work reflect this.”

  • Passion for STEM: 
  • We ignite a passion for STEM subjects through a multifaceted approach to teaching and learning. “Leaders foster a passion in pupils for scientific, technological, economic, and mathematical (STEM) subjects through a multifaceted approach to teaching and learning.”

  • Award-Winning STEM Communication Program: 
  • We are proud of our innovative STEM communication program, which not only deepens scientific and mathematical knowledge but also builds pupils’ confidence in communicating this knowledge through various media. “Leaders have developed an award-winning STEM communication program as part of the curriculum so that pupils’ scientific and mathematical knowledge is extended while building pupils’ confidence in communicating this knowledge to others through a range of media.”

  • Supportive Community: 
  • Our strong community fosters intellectual curiosity and a love of learning both in and out of lessons. “Leaders imaginatively use social spaces around the school so that pupils’ intellectual curiosity and love of learning are stimulated in and out of lesson time.”

  • Pupil Confidence and Wellbeing:
  • Our commitment to wellbeing and safeguarding: “Pupils of all ages and backgrounds present as self-confident and have high self-esteem. They are at ease in discussion with adults, reflecting on their experiences thoughtfully and in a balanced way.”

  • Boarding and Pastoral Care:
  • We are delighted that the report reflects our commitment to providing an exceptional boarding experience. ”The high quality provision in boarding supports pupils effectively and promotes a harmonious community. Pupils value the environment, commenting positively on the provision, and appreciate the way they are very well looked after.”
  • ”Boarding pupils appreciate the inclusive, multicultural community within their house, valuing the opportunity to strengthen their friendships through weekend activities, trips and events.”

  • Extracurricular Success: 
  • Our curriculum goes beyond A-level specifications, encouraging pupils to apply their knowledge to real-world problems. Extracurricular activities and success in national and international competitions fuel their enthusiasm and expand their academic horizons. “Extracurricular activities, in the form of academic enrichment, and success in national and international competitions stoke pupils’ enthusiasm and extend their academic knowledge and skills.”

This report is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community. We are immensely proud of our pupils and staff and excited about the continuous journey of excellence at NatMatSci!
