New Computer Science Teacher – September 2019

Andrew MacKenzie will join us in September 2019. 

Andrew MacKenzie is currently teaching IB and IGCSE Computer Science and Business Studies at St Joseph’s Institution International Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, with the additional responsibility of coordinating the school’s ‘F1 in Schools’ programme. He graduated with BA (Hons) in IT and Business Studies from the University of Kent and finished his PGCE in Business Education and ICT from Sheffield Hallam University.

His previous roles included Head of Business Studies and IT at Christ’s College Finchley, Assistant Head of Careers at Finchley Catholic High School and teacher of ICT and Business Studies at Walthamstow School for Girls in London. He has also been teaching ICT, Computer Science, Economics and Business Studies as part of the International Baccalaureate or A’ Level (GCE) curriculum since 1995.

Andrew’s previous role was with the British International School in Cairo where he was the Head of Computing and ICT, teacher of Key Stage 3 ICT, GCSE ICT and Business Studies and IB Computing and Business Management classes. Aside from that, he has successfully introduced IB and GCSE Computer Science and Robotics at the British International School, Cairo and has led 14 different student companies to victory at the annual Injaz Al Arab enterprise competition in Cairo.

Andrew believes in allowing students to benefit from innovative learning and thinking that will enable them to achieve their potential. In his spare time, he likes to discover new technology, play badminton, do art, read and travel.
