We held our second UK Linguistics Olympiad Advanced level in February. Seven Year 1 students took part, and we were delighted to learn that Ivan and Jonty both achieved a Bronze award 🥉. At the time of sitting the Olympiad, the new Linguistics Society had only had three training sessions so Ivan and Jonty’s success was a true testament to their logical thinking and language analysis aptitude. Well done!
The results of the Intermediate level will be announced in the coming weeks and we’ll keep our fingers crossed for more medals for our Year 1 and Pre A level students.
The UK Linguistics Olympiad consists of questions about relatively unknown languages and involves making logical deductions from data sets. No knowledge of the languages used in the questions is required. It’s language gymnastics for your brain ! ðŸ§
