Preparation for university begins as soon as students join us. Year 1 A level students attend conferences and visit universities, and Pre-A level students are encouraged to think about their university plans through discussions and talks from visiting universities.

Whatever students are planning to do after A levels, what they do whilst at College makes a difference, so we provide support for them to take on work experience, volunteering, research, extra reading and academic competitions. All these activities help both to prepare them for the next stage and give them an extra edge in their applications.

Our UCAS Programme

Our UCAS programme starts in the first term of A Level study and is supported throughout Year 1 with talks to students from leading universities and supervised visits to our partner Colleges at Oxford and Cambridge. At the end of their summer exams Year 1 students enter a very busy series of events, including talks from internal and external speakers on applying to university, visits to university open days and bespoke university visits and personal statement workshops.

During the year, students have personalised sessions with our UCAS coordinator, and these continue intensively in the winter term of Year 2 where the focus of UCAS preparation becomes much more individual as students get ready to submit their applications.

Oxbridge Applications

Oxford and Cambridge are the two oldest, most prestigious, and highly-ranked universities in the world. Both institutions seek to attract the best and brightest applicants, and have highly rigorous and fair application procedures designed to allow the very best candidates to shine. We have developed a dedicated programme of events to support our Oxbridge applicants.

NMSC has partnerships with Clare College, Cambridge and Keble College, Oxford, and throughout their time with us, students meet current undergraduates from these colleges, allowing them to understand more about life an an Oxbridge undergraduate.

Ivy League Applications

Studying at the prestigious universities in the USA is attractive to many students, but these insitiutions demand a lot of students as they seek only the best candidates. Our Ivy League application tutor, Elizabeth von Nardroff, is an expert in the US admission tests, so she understands the particular challenges international students face when tackling the American SAT and ACT exams.

NMSC students receive invalubale support, advice and guidance from Elizabeth, both in groups and one-to-one. Her extensive experience has helped past students gain entrance to top US universities including Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Duke, UPenn and UC Berkeley, to name a few.
