Head of Computer Science

The National Mathematics and Science College is looking to develop Computer Science into the significant subject that it deserves to be within an elite STEM education.

At present we have a small number of students who are self-studying the A-level programme with some limited support, and we are looking for someone who can work with the College to develop and grow the department into a beacon of excellence for Computer Science both nationally and internationally.

Our students routinely engage in programming activities and challenges through the College’s PySoc and other house competitions (such as a recent challenge to write a programme to calculate as many digits of pi as they could in 60 seconds of runtime!)

There is huge potential here, and the successful candidate will have the full backing of the College’s leadership to grow and develop the department.

Initially the teaching load is likely to consist of 2 A-level groups, some non-examined Pre-A-level teaching, and supporting clubs and societies.  The hope is that this will grow into two groups in each year group as the College and the department grow.

The role could be well suited to an NQT or unqualified teacher with a very strong computing background and passion for the subject, who wishes to work with exceptional students and develop their teaching skills on the job.
